Do you prefer Books over Films?

Books have always been a rich source of literature since the ages of ink and paper. Books are a gateway to the outer world, it seems like while opening a book we are actually opening the window to the outer world, which fills us with knowledge from all over the world with each page-turning over. Books bring out our imaginative site, which we may be unaware of. Suppose a film is made on a respective novel and you went to watch the movie. You may find it amazing but you will miss the actual depth of the story.

While reading the same novel you will get more imaginations which the film may have missed or lacked accuracy. Our minds can play with words and transform them into beautiful visual scenes or images. You never know how creative you yourself are, it may happen that the filmmaker has been left behind in terms of creativity than you. So, reading gives you a whole new perspective and scope of creative imagination. A movie will only allow you to portray whatever the filmmaker is imagining. It will not open other creative aspects of your mind and ultimately your mind will be confined to limited thought and imagination circumstances.

Other than being imaginative or creative reading a book also improvise you in linguistic fields. While reading a book you get a closer apprehension of grammar and vocabulary which ultimately improves your spelling, pronunciation, grammar, and even reading skills. In a broader sense, it helps you to develop the skills of a good writer as well; as you already know that a good writer is one who is a good reader.

On the contrary, some people may urge for the importance of watching films, as it involves socializing with more people. You may hang out with friends and family and go for a movie which gives you time for near and dear ones as well. So, it’s a dual process. Moreover, watching films may also open up your imaginative prospect; though to a limited perspective; yet, it is not deniable that watching a film can also bring out the imagination within you. And this process takes place within a time period of 2 hours or a half more in general cases. So, it is less time-consuming, isn’t it?

So, moving to the conclusion part, I would say that watching films and reading books are simultaneous of equal importance because both are perfect in their own field.  Reading a novel may help you interpret a plot and scene sequence in your own way but watching a movie also gives you a new dimension of thought through the director’s eye. I would rather suggest one should go for both watching films and reading books from time to time, as both are important for today’s world. Besides developing your own creative thoughts you should also have a keen knowledge of others’ imaginative perspectives. It definitely keeps you more updated and adds more dimensions to your imagination. So, books and films are each other’s subordinate and you cannot deny the importance of either one.
